Email Settings for Domain-Email Hosted with Amarillo InTech

» If you were hoping to reach our browser-based email (webmail) skip to the last two lines of this page. «

NOTE: While terminology differs slightly from one email program to another (there are dozens) these settings are appropriate for any email program running on any computer or mobile device.

Because several settings are repeated in each of the 3 sections below, the process is actually not nearly as daunting as it may appear.

First, decide whether you'd like to use POP or IMAP.

IMAP is the newer of the two and probably the most recommended, especially for those who'd like to access the same email account from more than one computer or device.

To understand the differences, you might want to search for "should I choose POP or IMAP".

Similarly, if unfamiliar with your email program, you may need to search for "how to setup email using (your email program name) on (your device)"

Settings and choices for new email accounts...

Suggestions:

Note that the info below is presented in three sections.  Basic, Incoming, & Outgoing

Read through the titles (in red) for familiarization.

Begin email setup on your device. As you progress, find the right choice for each setting from the information presented below.

BASIC

Choose  POP or IMAP (some devices are IMAP only)

Description: whatever is meaningful to you for this account

Your Name: your first & last name

Company: optional

Email Address: somename@yourdomain.com

Password: as provided

SPA (Secure Password Authentication): OFF

INCOMING MAIL (POP or IMAP)

Username: your FULL email address

Password: as provided

Incoming Mail Server (POP or IMAP): webmail.amintech.com

Note! Mozilla Thunderbird users click here: mozillaThunderbird.pdf

* Encryption Type (or Security): SSL  (aka SSL: ON)

* Port Number (if POP):    995 (standard and generally auto-filled)

* Port Number (if IMAP):   993 (standard and generally auto-filled)

NOTE:

with POP it’s important to find the setting "Leave Messages on the Server for some number of days."  (5 days is adequate for most users)

with IMAP it’s important to delete unneeded messages and empty the trash folder regularly (many thousands of messages slow response time)

OUTGOING MAIL (SMTP)

You may have to choose: Configure Manually, More Settings, Advanced, or Similar

Username: your FULL email address

Password: as provided

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): webmail.amintech.com

Encryption Type (or Security): NONE  (aka SSL: OFF)

Port Number:   2525   (NON-standard - Read next line.)

IMPORTANT:   Most email clients provide a separate field for altering a Port Number. In Windows 10 Mail, however, a custom port number is designated by adding a colon followed the port number at the end of the Outgoing Server Name. i.e. "webmail.amintech.com:2525"

If you see a setting for "Automatically manage connection settings" (or similar) select "NO"
Hint: When all else fails, a restart of the computer (or device) is sometimes required after changing a Port Number

Primarily for use with desktops & laptops, note that webmail is available to most users at: www.yourdomain.com/webmail

and SECURELY to ALL users at: https://ssl.amintech.com/webmail
